Dawit or Every Century Has Its Own Hideous Face
is a poetic film that gives a voice to the silenced
Swedish-Eritrean journalist and writer Dawit Isaak, who has been held incommunicado in Eritrea since 2001,
presumably in a container, along with eleven Eritrean
colleagues. The film draws an intimate portrait of his inner world of fear, memory and hope by focusing on the exploration of the void - the perceptible space of the absent.
